What PC-ABS is

PC-ABS is a blend of polycarbonate (PC) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). The polycarbonate fraction contributes heat resistance, dimensional stability and high impact strength. The ABS fraction contributes flow and easier processing, so parts fill well and finish cleanly. The blend ratio sets where a grade lands between those two, which is why we document it rather than leave it open.

The result is a material engineers reach for when a part needs the toughness and thermal headroom of PC but has to mould like ABS. It holds shape under load and heat, takes detail well and finishes for paint or plating.

High impact strength across a wide temperature range, from the polycarbonate fraction.

Good heat resistance and dimensional stability under load.

Better flow and an easier processing window than PC on its own.

Clean surface finish, suitable for painting and plating.

Typical applications

PC-ABS is common in automotive interior parts, such as dashboards, consoles and trim, where heat resistance and impact strength both matter. It also goes into electronic and appliance housings and into electrical components, where dimensional stability and a clean finish carry the part.

With a blend, the spec is the work. Blend ratio and a consistent melt flow (MFR) decide whether a grade processes the same batch to batch, so we sort PC-ABS by those properties rather than by appearance. Depending on the source stream, a grade can be technical or food-contact, and we state which.
